Biography
Vugar Mamedov is a contemporary artist and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. He was born on March 25, 1966, in Ganja, Azerbaijan. He lives and works in St. Petersburg.
Education and Career
From 1981 to 1985, he studied at the A. Azimzade Art School in Baku, graduating with honors. From 1985 to 1992, he studied at the V. I. Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School (now the A. L. Stieglitz St. Petersburg State Art and Industrial Academy) in the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting.
Since 1998, he has been a member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including solo shows, in St. Petersburg, as well as in various cities in Germany, Poland, Finland, and other countries.
Artistic Work
Vugar Mamedov’s works are often noted for their synthesis of Eastern traditions and Northern serenity. His art has been influenced by both medieval Persian miniatures and his studies in St. Petersburg, where he expanded his artistic range, enriching it with new imagery and painting techniques.
The artist uses various techniques and materials to create unique works of art. His works feature vibrant colors, an original style, and profound meaning. Among the themes he explores in his paintings are landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.
